Columbia Pictures Releases Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal' Rehearsal Clip
Columbia Pictures is dangling an additional piece of bait before the eyes of viewers contemplating seeing Michael Jackson's "This Is It" which opens in theatres Wednesday, October 28.
The latest 52-second clip previews the late Michael and his dancers performing his hit "Smooth Criminal" from his 1987 album "Bad."
"Smooth Criminal" is one of Michael's most popular videos.
It is noted for its hard to imitate dance move that involves Michael and his
dancers standing upright before slowly leaning forward to a 60 degree angle.
The brief "This Is It" video does not feature that memorable move; however, it does find Michael performing other high energy, choreographed routines with his trademark precision.
I have been overloaded by five trailers that have each successfully increased my interest in the film. I am glad the movie is out this week. I am ready for the full-length.
I haven't seen Michael performing on the big screen since his
1986 Disneyland 3D-feature "Captain
EO." That "Star Wars" style 18-minute short was co-produced by George Lucas
and directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
"This Is It" is 1 hour and 57 minutes and culled from more than 100 hours of footage taped during the months preceding June 25 Michael's death. It is directed by Kenny Ortega whose credits include the "High School Musical" series, "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best Of Best Worlds Tour," and "Ferris Beuller's Day Off."
"This Is It" will make its worldwide premiere Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. PDT. The event taking place at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles can be viewed online from www.ThisIsIt-Movie and www.Crackle.com.
The "This
Is It" double-CD is also available Tuesday. Disc 1 has 16 songs, including two
versions of the title track. Disc 2 contains demo versions of four Michael songs,
"She's Out Of My Life," "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'," "Planet Earth," and
"Beat It."
The double-CD set also includes an exclusive 36-page book with photos from Michael's rehearsal.
